Circumstances of accident
Our client was riding his motorbike. He was situated at a red light, at a crossroads, in Paisley. As the lights turned green, our client proceeded straight ahead. Unfortunately, a third party vehicle travelling in the opposite direction did not see our client and proceeded to make a right turn across our client’s path, causing our client to collide with the front of the vehicle and come off his motorbike, over the bonnet. Our client was taken to hospital in an ambulance and sustained a significant injury to his thumb, amongst other soft tissue injuries to his body.
How we helped our client
We intimated the claim on the third-party insurers and liability was admitted immediately. We wrote out to the hospital and to our client’s GP to ingather a full copy of our client’s medical records prior to arranging a medical appointment with an independent medical expert. The third party insurers made a premedical offer of £5,000 and we encouraged our client to reject this and proceed to obtain full medical evidence in support of the injuries, which our client agreed to do.
Settlement
Based on medical evidence obtained, settlement was agreed in the sum of £18,800.
